Dan Harney- May 17

I’ve been writing songs and performing now for the last 8 years. I’d like to think that I’ve grown as an artist over the years, but you all would be better judges of that. I love writing songs and I love sharing them with friends – old and new.       Now, as I am trying to pursue music as a lifestyle, my goal is to relay authentic faith. A faith that is not political and self-righteous. A faith that falls and gets back up again. A faith that is not afraid to ask why and cry out in pain. That was the faith of our fathers and that is what I want to write about and live.

And that is what Breathing October turned out to be - a collection of songs about the struggle for faith in my life. There are times when God shows Himself so unmistakably that we have no choice but to fall to our knees and worship, and there are times when He feels so far away, we have no option but to cry out in need. Regardless of our perception, God is there. But I believe that God gave us each other so that we can worship and cry together, and it is my hope that these songs can help us all to do just that.

Johnny J. Blair - June 7

The spice of life can be heard in the music of Johnny J. Blair “Singer at Large.” His innovative brand of “pop music with a twist” is a fast-paced mix of old school soul/rhythm and blues, psychedelia, punk/new wave and a melodicism breathed by classical, gospel, jazz, and world beat. Spotlight Magazine dubbed Blair “the Harry Houdini of rock and roll” for his ongoing “escape from typecasts.” “Passion makes you vivid,” said Blair. As a solo act, he performs with an energy that people have said “feels like a full band.” Blair said, “Here's my job description: Play songs that feed the soul and play them with passion. I hope to pass some of that on to the audience.” He was called “a white James Brown” by Brown’s legendary drummer, Clyde Stubblefield. Earcandy.com called Blair “a delightful entertainer. Blair's admirers include surf-guitar hero Dick Dale, British pop music legend Cliff Richard and Brian Wilson (Beach Boys)—who called Blair "a virtuoso." “In this life, I am but a pinball. God does the levers,” says Blair, “I’m not out to impress people. I’d rather inspire them. I get even better after my fourth cup of coffee.”
